After over 8 years of dedicated service to the Lake Washington Schools Foundation, Katy Philips will be stepping away from her role as the organization’s Executive Director and passing the baton to new leadership.
Katy’s tenure as Executive Director has been a period of meaningful growth and stability for LWSF. Under her leadership, the Foundation expanded programs and services for students and families while strengthening relationships with the district, community partners and donors.
Outgoing Board President Irene Neumann, who worked closely with Katy throughout her time as Executive Director, shares:
“Katy Philips has led the Lake Washington Schools Foundation very capably since 2020 and it has been a real pleasure to work closely with her as President over the last three years. She brought a steadfast approach to problem-solving and strong commitment to the Foundation’s mission. I am incredibly proud of the support structures and program enhancements we have put in place on behalf of students in the District.”

Board President Trevor Willett, who began his term July 1, reflects on the lasting impact of Katy’s leadership:
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank Katy for her many years of dedicated service to the Lake Washington Schools Foundation and our community. Her leadership and commitment have made a lasting impact on countless young people, and as both a parent and board leader, I am deeply grateful for the legacy she leaves behind and the opportunities my own children, and so many others, will benefit from because of her work.”
As she prepares to close this chapter with LWSF, Katy reflects on the community, relationships, and shared accomplishments that have made her time with the Foundation so meaningful:
“It has been an honor to be part of this work and to witness the many ways that this caring community comes together to support its kids and public education. I am deeply grateful for all that we have accomplished together and for the friendships and memories that I will take with me.
Because the organization is solidly grounded in its mission, guided by a committed board and talented staff and supported by an amazing community, I am confident that LWSF will continue to expand and grow in order to serve LWSD students.”
The Foundation looks forward to building on this strong foundation as it enters its next chapter. Additional information about leadership transition plans and the search for LWSF’s next Executive Director will be shared with the community as it becomes available.
