Mission

The Lake Washington Schools Foundation raises funds and amplifies community resources to provide students in Lake Washington School District what they need to thrive, both now and in the future.

Core Values

Our four core values provide the lens through which we view all of our work:

Accountability: We will be accountable for our actions, which includes honoring donors’ intentions, following through on our promises, and being transparent in our actions.
Equity: We will allocate resources equitably to ensure that every student has an opportunity to achieve an equal outcome.
Integrity: We will strive to do what is best for the students and families in our district, rather than what is convenient or what is familiar.
Community: We will support the school district administration and seek partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and individuals who share our vision.

Strategic Areas of Focus

We activate our mission through four key strategic areas of focus:

9.7% of LWSD students are low income; we look for opportunities to ensure that students are being supported, including basic needs and access to learning opportunities, to provide an equal opportunity for all students to learn.

Many young people today face significant mental health challenges, with a notable number experiencing intense anxiety and even contemplating suicide. Our goal is to offer vital support to our students by increasing awareness and providing education to staff, parents, and the kids and teens themselves.

A key tenet of the LWSD is to ensure students feel included and that all students must be safe and feel a sense of belonging if they are to succeed. Together with the school district and PTSA, we view it as our responsibility to create safe and inclusive learning communities in every school where every student and family is valued and welcomed. We look to support this through connecting with our broader community by making communications accessible and by supporting programs that ensure students feel connected to their community.

Our goal is to help support enhanced learning opportunities from elementary through high school and beyond to ensure students are prepared for life after graduation. We will actively look to expand in both supporting additional academic opportunities, life skills, and additional paths beyond high school.
