Youth Mental Health First Aid is a formal education program that introduces adults to the distinct risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, builds understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches individuals how to help youth who are in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge.
In partnership with the Lake Washington School District, we provided training to 150 teachers and staff during the 2020-2021 school year. Plans are underway to train more staff in 2021-2022. If you are an LWSD staff member interested in participating in Youth Mental Health First Aid training, contact Morgan Lipe at [email protected] for more information.
What have LWSD staff said after taking this course?
“I am very grateful and wish I had this training years ago.”
“I feel really good about what I learned today.”
“The most important thing I learned today was affirmations of best practices when talking to students.”
It costs $75 to train each LWSD staff member so they are equipped to support a student when they need it most.
