The Lake Washington Schools Foundation has awarded more than $50,000 in grants to schools in the Lake Washington School District. Schools in Kirkland, Redmond, and Sammamish will use the grants to extend student learning opportunities in math, literacy and science, and to provide assistance for students with financial needs

Lake Washington School District (LWSD) offers a summer school program for elementary students but parents have to pay tuition for their students to attend. A grant of $63,000 from the Lake Washington Schools Foundation (LWSF) will enable 115 elementary students who are academically at risk and in financial need to attend Core Academic Summer School at no charge.

Local robotics teams shine at world championship
