How did the employees from AXA Advisors handle the day in the classroom?

LINKS Winter 2011 Newsletter

"The work our staff and LINKS volunteers do is about the development of children into young adults. This development requires us to look within ourselves and think about what we have to offer that can help a student reach a higher level of achievement. It requires talented and energetic professionals who know when to encourage with vigor, and when to be extraordinary patience because that is what they need at the time. It requires wisdom and tenacity as well as compassion." - Dr. Chip Kimball, Superintendent

Announcing the
Reaching for Success Grants
for 2011-2012

The Reaching for Success Grant program is to encourage creative educational programs that will help a school successfully meet its Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) goals. To accomplish this, the Lake Washington Schools Foundation provides financial resources for specific approaches to enhance or expand the curriculum. These approaches are to be consistent with the District’s priorities and grade level targets, as well as in line with the Lake Washington Schools Foundation mission. Grant applications may propose projects that benefit an individual classroom, a specific grade-level, or an entire school.

Here are some details and important dates regarding the Reaching for Success grants:

• School principals must approve, rank, and submit all applications from their schools; anyone may help prepare the application.
• A Grant Writing Workshop at Lake Washington Resource Center will be held January 24, 2011.
• Each grant has a maximum budget amount of $3,000.
• Four copies of the application are due in the LWSF office by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2011. Faxed or e-mailed applications will not be accepted.

December 9, 2010 - At a board meeting today the Trustees of the Lake Washington Schools Foundation voted in favor of endorsing the upcoming February 2011 Levy Measure.

The measure would pay for additions to house 250 students each at Eastlake and Redmond High Schools. It would also pay for a grades 6-12 school serving 675 students that would focus on Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics, or STEM. This will relieve immediate overcrowding at the high school level, as well as anticipated overcrowding at the middle school level in the near future.
