Committees


 

Lake Washington Schools Foundation uses a variety of committees to carry out programs and raise funds. If you're intrested in one of the committees listed, please visit the Volunteers section of the web site.

 

Marketing & Communications Committee

Areas include:

Reporting -  Observing LWSF Classroom and School Grants in action and reporting observations back (form is provided for recording information)

Photography - photographing grants or other events in action (point and shoot camera is sufficient)

Writers - pulling content together to create an interesting and engaging story

Publicity/PR  - writing and sending press releases to local papers

Design - designing artwork/layouts for marketing collateral such as luncheon postcards, About Us flyers, etc

Newsletter/Annual Report Editor - gathering content from committee members/board trustees and putting it together

Mailing coordinator - coordinating with the Post Office etc to get mailings out to donors

Archivist - organize our photo library for ease of use

Electronic delivery - delivery inspiring content via Facebook, website, and electronic newsletters.

 

Resource Development

Grantwriting – Research grant opportunities and/or write grants on behalf of the Foundation to fund programs such as LINKS Mentoring, Core Academic Summer School and other District programs we fund.

Annual Spring Luncheon – Planning committee for the annual spring “A Legacy for Learning” luncheon includes event planning timeline, coordination with caterer, audio/visual company, student volunteers and venue, decorations and set up & clean up.  Content (theme, message, video, speakers, etc.) is provided by the Foundation itself.  This committee facilitates and handles logistics.

 

Programs

School Grants – Annual application process for Reaching for Success classroom and school grants.  Read grants, review application guidelines and process annually, host grant writing workshop for potential applicants, organize grant readers to evaluate applications, host evaluation sessions with grant readers, compile results and provide to Board of Trustees for approval, and notify applicants of results.
